Jan 19, 2009 ~Personal Mission Statement from Jeff Cobb ~
The Live Oak Concours d’Elegance car show event and pancreatic cancer fundraiser will be a first for our home town in Baton Rouge. On May 9nth, beautiful, historic and unique cars will be shown at the magnificent Live Oak Arabian horse ranch, an oak tree-lined estate, dating back to the Spanish Land Grants of the 1700’s. We invite friends to enjoy the natural beauty of Live Oak, along with beautiful cars, great friends, food, wine, and live Brazilian music. My wife's pancreatic cancer recovery is one of the driving forces behind this wonderful event. We would like to raise the publics awareness about this deadly cancer. Well known area doctors such as Dr.William Russell, Dr. William Anderson and Dr. Laura Cassidy will speak about pancreatic cancer. The world-renowned car designer, Tom Tjaarda, flying in from Italy, will speak about cars, automotive design and the positive path one must take through cancer’s torturous path.
It is our intended hope that this day’s event will bring together many people from the automotive and the cancer stricken world, so that common goals, bonds and dreams will be realized. It is our deepest hope that we will all learn about pancreatic cancer so that many more will live through early diagnosis and effective care to ultimately become cancer free. In order for this event to flourish we need the many hidden auto gems to come out of dark and dusty spaces to be present and accounted for on May 9th. Having a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer at Live Oak Arabian plantation by bringing together car enthusiasts as well as those who care about finding a cure for cancer is a noble cause. This car show and fundraiser will be successful because of your participation, I along with so many others who care, will be present on May 9th with a smile in our hearts, a fine car under foot and hope in our souls for cancer eradication.
Thank you and let's have a good day,
